Welcome to the

Woman’s Century Club

A social club focused on women’s history, culture, lifelong education and community engagement.

Home

The Woman’s Century Club was founded in 1891 by suffragist Carrie Chapman Catt, a protege of Susan B. Anthony, along with a number of Seattle’s early women leaders.

Today’s Woman’s Century Club includes members from a variety of professional backgrounds. We gather at least once each month for a lunch/program meeting or a community outing such as behind-the-scenes visits to museums, local botanical gardens and social service agencies.

In keeping with the club’s longtime tradition of philanthropy, we award an annual scholarship to an outstanding female student who exemplifies the traditions of female leadership and service that the club’s founders sought to encourage.

In addition, during the holiday season we raise funds for a local social service organization and the club makes donations throughout the year to local non-profits (typically in honor of guest speakers who represent those organizations).

Our in-person meetings are usually held at Dearborn House, 1117 Minor Avenue, Seattle. This is an historic home which is now the headquarters of Historic Seattle. We periodically offer hybrid and Zoom-only meetings, as well. Check out our events page for upcoming program information.

Our meetings are free of charge and open to all. Lunches are complimentary for members. A modest donation is requested for guests joining us for lunch. We appreciate an RSVP ahead of time to help us with planning.

We welcome new members! More details are on the membership page of this website

The selection of the club’s flower, the white rose, in 1896 is said to have been inspired by early member Kate Turner Holmes’s “rose-covered veranda, where the group enjoyed her hospitality so often.”
