Early Members’ Papers

During the early years of the club, members would regularly write and present papers on a variety of topics at meetings. Women’s clubs in the late 19 th and early 20 th century provided women with outlets for lifelong learning and self-development. Clubs also offered women important opportunities to develop skills and confidence in public speaking, leadership and advocacy which contributed to their effectiveness working for
women’s suffrage and other progressive causes. The Woman’s Century Club carries on these traditions into the 21 st century and our members are featured among our guest speakers at program meetings throughout the year.

Our History Committee is currently transcribing papers and essays written by members in the 1890s. Check back for more!
